We all know the value of conscious breathing. We hear about it constantly. What we don’t hear much about is the place of stillness between the inhale and the exhale. This is the Gap.

We have thousands of thoughts in the course of a day. Our minds are unaware of most of them, but our bodies know each thought very well. We may be thinking of all the things we need to get done. We may be feeling guilt or shame at something that already occurred. Since the body is aware of these thoughts, the heart rate speeds up. The body is stressed, and then the mind follows.

We end up in a constant state of Fight, Flight, or Freeze.

When we can access the Gap in our breath, we can touch that quiet place of stillness. The place where rest is possible, Where you can touch and say hello to the sacred beauty of who you really are.

When we practice resting in the Gap, we experience more harmony and peace on the caring journey.
